7th Offshore Wind Supply Chain Seminar
In 2016, our annual Offshore Wind Supply Chain Seminar took place on the 27th of April in Bergen.
Recently, the Norwegian Parliament decided to instruct the government to research the possibilities to establish a prototyping test site for floating offshore wind and other offshore energy technologies. At the same time, Norway is struggling to shrug of the effects of the downsizing of the oil & gas industries by find alternative engagement in other industries such as offshore wind.
Both in the development and construction phases as well as the operation phases Norwegian technology, offshore acumen and innovative product development are sought after to push the cost of offshore wind downwards to competitive levels.Can Norwegian industry, with its heritage in shipping, maritime and innovative offshore projects deliver good innovative solutions for offshore wind operations? At this year?s seminar, we seeked to understand how Norwegian experience can benefit the construction and operations of offshore wind farms, both strategically and operationally.
At the 7th Offshore Wind Supply Chain Seminar, we therefore discussed how the Norwegian industry has already responded to the need for maritime knowledge and vessels in the offshore wind industry and how it should seize the opportunities that are still present in the industry. We took a closer look at the opportunities presented by this rapidly developing market and at the same time looked for potential cost reductions and efficiency increases.
