    (20.12.13) Geir Pollestad (Sp ) stilte statsrådet følgende spørsmål: «En viktig del av klimaløsningen er økt produksjon av fornybar energi. Norge har gjennom en kombinasjon av store havområder og offshoreteknologi en stor mulighet til utvikling av og produksjon av vindkraft til havs. Hvilke ambisjoner har statsråden for vindkraft til havs, og hvordan ser han for seg å nå disse ambisjonene?»
     

  • Aibel’s Dolwin Beta substation lifted in Dubai

    (10.12.13) Dubai shipyard Drydocks World has hailed a landmark “heavy lift” in the construction of Aibel’s Dolwin Beta offshore wind HVDC platform.
     

  • UK ups offshore support from 2018

    (05.12.13) The UK government has increased the amount of financial support that will be offered to offshore wind from 2018/19. The draft Contract for Difference (CfD) strike prices published by the UK government this summer offered offshore wind projects £155 ($253) per MWh from 2014/15, dropping to £135/MWh in 2018/19. The government has however now confirmed its intention to offer offshore wind projects £140/MWh in 2018/19, bending to industry concerns that the assumed cost-reductions for the medium term were too severe.

  • Statoil Hywind wind farm off Scotland gets og-ahead from UK Crown Estate

    (28.11.13) The UK’s Crown Estate has granted a lease to Norway’s Statoil to move ahead with Europe’s largest floating wind scheme – the 30MW Buchan Deep project located 20km to 30km off the coast of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.

  • Statkraft Q3 profitability bolstered by improved wind revenues and profitability

    (08.11.13) Statkraft, INTPOW partner and Europe’s leading renewable energy producer, achieved a healthy operating profit in the quarter as total power production slipped 2% year-on-year  to 11.2TWh – but Nordic electricity prices leaped by 72%.
     

  • UK energy secretary reiterates Britain’s high offshore ambitions

    (07.11.13) The UK energy secretary Ed Davey signalled that Britain's deployment of offshore wind will be at the upper end of its range of forecast scenarios, in an attempt to reassure the sector over the government’s ambition for the renewable source.  
     

  • Turkey and Norway sign MoU on energy cooperation

    (07.11.13) The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Monica Mæland and Turkey`s Energy Minister, Taner Yildiz signed a memorandum of Understanding on energy cooperation during the Norwegian King and Queen`s state visit to Turkey on November 5-7.
     

  • Norplan builds renewable incentives program in Uganda

    (29.10.13) Multiconsult subsidiary and INTPOW partner; Norplan, is the project manager of a project funded by KfW to implement a feed in tariff incentive program for renewable energy in Uganda. The program will deliver 20 new renewable energy projects to Uganda within the next 5 years. GET FiT (Global Energy Feed in Tariff) is new and yet untried, but will be implemented to spur private investments in developing regions. The incentive scheme will mainly support small scale energy production based on hydropower and biomass with less than 20 MW installed power.
     

  • Statkraft in new UK power deal

    (25.10.13) INTPOW partner and power producer Statkraft has signed 15-year power purchase agreements with developer John Laing for two UK wind farms. The deals cover all electricity and renewable benefits at the 14.4MW Burton Wold extension near Kettering, Northamptonshire, and the 15.3MW Carscreugh in Dumfries and Galloway. Statkraft already has 15-year PPAs in place with John Laing for the 8.2MW Wear Point wind farm near Milford Haven and the 10.25MW Bilsthorpe scheme in Nottinghamshire (pictured) , signed in December 2012 and August 2012 respectively.   • Kongsberg Maritime to provide radar system for DBB’s offshore wind service vessel

    (25.09.13) Nordic Yards in Wismar, Germany, has awarded Kongsberg Maritime a contract to deliver an Integrated Vessel Control System for a new build 80m Wind Turbine Service Jack-Up Vessel, owned by Danish offshore services specialist, DBB Jack-Up.
     

  • Peruvian trade mission met with Norwegian renewable energy companies

    (25.09.13) A Peruvian trade mission headed by Ms Mariana Vega Gaggero from the Vice Ministry of Foreign Trade visited INTPOW and its members earlier this week.
     

  • Groundbreaking ceremony of the Shuakhevi Hydropower Project

    (24.09.13) On 16. September, representatives from the Georgian Government, owners and management of the Adjaristsqali Georgia LLC and other dignitaries and invitees were gathered to celebrate the Groundbreaking if the Shuakhevi Hydropower Project.

  • DNV GL merger approved

    (18.09.13) The merger between INTPOW partner DNV and Germanischer Lloyd is approved and the new company was operational from September 12.
     

  • INTPOW Renewable Energy Forum considered highly interesting by attendees

    (10.09.13) Tuesday last week, 200 Norwegian and international experts on renewable energy, business development, investment and government governance met at INTPOW Renewable Energy Forum to discuss the global energy revolution and its implications for business and Norway.
     

  • Upgrade completed on the Binga HPP, Philippines.

    (04.09.13) The 125.8 MW Binga plant 180 km north of Manila, Philippines has recently been undergoing upgrade.
     

  • Statkraft turbine order for Albania projects

    (25.07.13) Statkraft, Europe's largest producer of renewable energy and the leading power company in Norway has awarded Alstom a contract worth around EUR100 million to supply 6 Francis turbine-generator units to its subsidiary in Albania. The turbines will be supplied to Statkraft’s new hydropower plants on the Devoll river, southern Albania.
     

  • New report about the Norwegian energy industry

    (28.06.13) INTPOW has released its annual report «The Norwegian Cleantech Industry – Statistics». Menon Business Economics was commissioned by INTPOW to produce the report by charting the current status and development of the sector.
     

  • Offshore Wind Operations/Science Meets Industry 2013

    (27.06.13) The conference Offshore Wind Operations/Science Meets Industry will take place in Bergen on the 10th of September. The program includes speakers from Siemens Wind Power, Statoil, Reef Subsea Power & Umbilical and the Crown Estate. A poster session with the latest research from NORCOWE will also take place.   • Statkraft strengthens its international hydropower arms

    (21.06.13) Statkraft and Norfund have signed an agreement expressing their intention to restructure and prolong their cooperation within renewable energy. The aim is to create a leading international hydropower cluster, based on assets from Statkraft, SN Power and Agua Imara.    
     

  • AAK launches UK strategic partnership

    (14.06.13) During the RenewableUK Offshore Wind conference in Manchester this week, INTPOW member AAK launched their offshore wind activities in the UK with the first official appearance of 3C Humber, a strategic partnership between AAK AS and Blackrow Engineering to pioneer sector specific safe work at height training.  Prior to the conference, the newly established JV signed a MoU with Humber Chemical Focus to participate in the Catch training complex.
     

  • Increased local content pressure in the European offshore wind market

    (14.06.13) As Recharge reported from the RenewableUK Offshore 2013 conference in Manchester, England this week, fears were expressed repeatedly– publicly and privately, by industry and government alike, that despite a yawning global lead in installed capacity, the UK may squander its opportunity to create an industrial offshore wind industry.

  • Summers school for offshore wind students and industry participants

    (03.06.13) NORCOWE, the Norwegian research and technology development organisation based at CMR is inviting students and industry to learn more about challenges related to offshore wind parks and offshore wind data analysis. The summers school will take place at the beautiful Preikestolen Fjellstue , August 26-30, and comes at a cost of NOK 11.500.
     

  • Japan Set to Become World's Largest Solar Market in 2013

    (31.05.13) Japan’s solar installations surged by a stunning 270% (in gigawatts (GW)) in the first quarter of 2013, positioning the country to surpass Germany to become the world’s largest photovoltaics (PV) market in terms of revenue this year.

  • Fin ordre for Rainpower i Sveits

    (06.05.13) Rainpower har i samarbeid med Jeumont Electric sikret en ordre på to nye 10.5 MW peltonturbiner til Les Farettes-prosjektet i Sveits. Anlegget som er fra 1906 har blitt jevnlig oppgradert og de nye turbinene skal være klare til å settes i drift i 2016.
     

  • UK powers ahead in offshore wind

    (08.02.13) The UK offshore wind sector grew faster than anywhere else in Europe last year with more than 73% of all new capacity additions installed in British waters, as Siemens and Dong maintained their positions as the industry's leading lights.

  • Dong Energy confirms it will go ahead at Westermost Rough wind farm

    (31.01.13) Denmark’s Dong Energy has confirmed it will go ahead with the 210MW Westermost Rough wind farm in the UK North Sea, taking the first 35 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 turbines under a 300-machine framework deal.
     

  • Hydro 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 16-18. April

    (30.01.13) Large Norwegian delegation to Africa 2013 In April, INPOW will be taking a group of Norwegian companies in the Hydropower business to the Africa 2013 conference and fair in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
     

  • Arabian nights (or days)

    (16.01.13) Saudi Arabia has announced an initiative to invest USD 100 bn in new renewable projects over the next years. Saudi Arabia plans to attract about $109 billion in solar investments to generate a third of its electricity by 2032, or about 41,000 megawatts. It currently has about 3 megawatts of solar installations, trailing Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and the U.A.E., according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

    (16.01.13) DNV KEMA just released a report on what the changes in the energy and power situation in Europe means for Norway.
     

  • Mitsubishi buys into German grid

    (16.01.13) Japanese group Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) has sealed two deals to buy into German offshore wind grid-connections, with a total investment of €576m ($765m), in a boost for the sector. Mitsubishi has closed its agreement with transmission system operator (TSO) TenneT on the high-voltage cable projects BorWin1 and BorWin2, in which it will take a stake of 49% for €240m.
