  • UK Offshore Wind Accelerator - Access Competition

    (07.10.10) Last week, the UK Carbon Trust launched a competition to find world-leading solutions to the problem of transferring engineers and equipment safely from boats to wind turbines as far as 300km offshore in up to 3 metre wave heights. The project aims to improve the economics of offshore wind by boosting revenues by as much as £3bn at a crucial time for the next generation of Round 3 offshore wind farms.
     

  • REC to shut Swedish module plant, lay off 300 workers

    (22.09.10)   Norwegian solar-energy firm REC will close its 150MW module plant in Glava, Sweden, with 300 people expected to lose their jobs. 
     

  • INTPOW at 25th EU PVSEC / WCPEC-5 Valencia

  • India to allocate developers for about 100 solar projects

    (20.09.10) India’s regulating authority on the licensing of solar plots in the country, the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, will start project allotment in September. More than 1,000 firms have expressed interest in about 100 projects of 5MW capacity each. The National Solar Mission is supported by government funding of $19bn and aims to generate 20GW of solar power into the national grid and 2GW for off-grid by 2022. 
     

  • French offshore wind tenders

    (30.08.10) France is going ahead with plans to tender 10 offshore wind sites with a capacity of up to 3GW in September, says the Energy Ministry.
     

  • New report about the Norwegian Energy Industry

  • SN Power, IFC to develop 1GW of hydro power in Vietnam

    (09.07.10) Global hydro firm SN Power and World Bank member International Finance Corporation (IFC) have entered into an agreement to develop up to 1GW of hydro power capacity in Vietnam over a ten-year period.
     

  • Q-Cells and Innotech Solar enter strategic partnership

    (16.06.10) Q-Cells and ITS today announced that they have entered into a long-term strategic partnership. Under the scope of this agreement, Q-Cells will sell all of its non-prime solar cells to ITS for conversion into PV solutions worldwide under the ITS brand name.
