  • Scatec Solar wins 75 MW of PV in first phase of South African allocation tender

    (15.12.11) Scatec Solar, the global developer and turn-key supplier of solar PV (photo voltaic) solutions and an INTPOW partner, has been selected as a preferred bidder for a 75 MW project during the first round of the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Program. A PV plant of this size will be amongst the largest to date in Africa. Construction will commence by July 2012 and the plant will be in commercial operation by August 2013.
     

  • Statoil seeks US lease off Maine for pilot Hywind floater project

    (15.12.11) Slowly, the next phase of the Hywind adventure is approaching. Statoil’s North America unit has now submitted a commercial lease application for waters off the US state of Maine, where it hopes to deploy four “optimised” versions of its Hywind floating wind turbine. We believe that the Scottish license applications for a wider prototype wind park might be around the corner. Will we see commercial floating wind parks inaugurated before 2020?

    (08.12.11) Tore Engevik has been appointed director of Aibel's new business area, Wind. He will continue working in Vestavind offshore until next spring. Anne-Grete Ellingsen (57) will serve as acting CEO of Vestavind Offshore when Engevik leaves.
     

  • Seajacks Leviathan to Join Statoil and Statkraft’s Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm (UK)

    (08.12.11) A replacement wind turbine installation vessel will arrive on site at the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm in February to help reduce delays to the 317MW project’s forecast schedule following a period of unseasonally poor weather.   • NORWIND INSTALLER AND ULSTEIN TEAM UP FOR OFFSHORE WIND FOUNDATION INSTALLATION VESSEL

    (28.11.11) Norwegian based NorWind Installer contracted the ULSTEIN Dutch design offices Ulstein Sea of Solutions and Ulstein IDEA Equipment Solutions as their design partners for a new foundation installation vessel for the offshore wind industry. The vessel is a customized version of the Deepwater Enabler design from ULSTEIN.
     

  • Arise Windpower teams up with BazeTechnology

    (05.09.11) Arise Windpower is an integrated wind power company with a high-quality project portfolio of over 900 MW, concentrated in southern Sweden. Today 136 MW are in operation or being operationalized, and this number is rapidly increasing. The BazeField Wind Farm Management System will be taken into operation for these first 9 farms of a total of 64 turbines within Q4 2011.

    (24.05.11) 20.05.2011: Innotech Solar is one of the few European solar cell and module manufacturers who not only boast high sales in Europe and the USA, but also in Asia, and particularly China. With a background of growing sales figures, the company has now opened a logistics center in Hong Kong, in addition to its existing sales and purchasing office in Shanghai. In his capacity as Chief Sales Office (CSO), Robert Händel is relocating from the Munich site to Shanghai in May 2011 to support the further expansion into the Asian market

  • Georgia is open for business

    (06.04.11) On 25th March the Government Guesthouse in Parkveien was the venue for a meeting between a official delegation from Georgia and a selection of Norwegian energy industry representatives. The delegation was headed by the Georgian Foreign Minister Mr. Grigol Vashadze accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Energy Mr. David Kereselidze.
     

  • Big plans for hydropower in Ethiopia

    (05.04.11) The International Hydropower Association(IHA) invited the hydropower community to Addis Ababa for the conference “Hydropower for Sustainable Development 2011”, more than 200 representatives from governments and industry attended.
     

  • 2nd Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference

    (05.04.11) On the 22nd of March, INTPOW organised its second Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference at Felix Conference Centre at Aker Brygge in Oslo. Around 110 delegates and speakers discussed the future of the offshore wind market and the implications for the emerging Norwegian supply chain.

    (02.03.11) On Thursday 3. March, the Italian Council of Ministers we be convened to decide about the Italian photovoltaic sector’s fate. A decree proposal on renewable energies, submitted by the Ministry of Economic Development, will be examined.

    (10.02.11) INTPOW visited the Stavanger office of Subsea 7, at the end of January, following the announcement of Subsea 7 ’s launch of its offshore renewables division and its signing of the alliance  with Scottish and Southern Energy plc (SSE), Siemens plc, Siemens Transmission and Distribution Limited, Burntisland Fabrications Ltd and Atkins.
     

  • INTPOW at UK Ministerial Roundtable Discussion

    (09.02.11) On the 19th of January, INTPOW and other senior executives from the Nordic and Baltic renewable energy industries was invited to discuss different aspects and challenges related to offshore wind development in the UK sector of the North sea with Mr. Charles Hendry, UK Secretary of State at Department of Energy and Climate Change, and other senior UK government representatives. The meeting was organized by the UK Trade and Investment office in close relation to the gathering of the Prime ministers of all the Nordic and Baltic countries on invitation from Mr. Cameron, UK’s prime minister.
