Recharge has won the prestigious British Renewable Energy Association’s (REA) Advocate Award at a gala dinner in London.
The annual award, started in 2006, is for: “The NGO, campaign, publication or association that has done most to enhance awareness of renewables in the public and/or key opinion formers”.
The REA awards are given to exceptional companies and individuals in nine different categories and are generally recognised as the leading awards in the renewables business.
It was the first time a publication has won the award.
“This award is for all the hard-working members of the Recharge editorial and sales team who have tirelessly worked around the clock to turn us into a great publication and online success story in just 18 short months,” says Chris Hopson, Recharge Editor-in-Chief.
“Recharge, which has shaken up the renewables industry with its dynamic mix of daring news, supported by regular features, opinions and profiles, has received the recognition it deserves.
"My particular thanks go to the many unsung heroes on the staff who have contributed so much to building our unique brand,” he adds.
The award was made to Chris at the ceremony in the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel, attended by NHST Media chief executive Gunnar Bjorkavag, Recharge managing director Sidsel Norvik, News Editor Paul Berrill and European Correspondent Ben Backwell, together with specially invited guests from across the renewables
