INTPOW was invited by the British Embassy to visit NAREC and their offshore wind supply conference:
"The future of Offshore wind"
That was the visionary title of NAREC’s conference in Durham County last week. Despite a number of upbeat and strong presentations, in our eyes, it failed to spark the strong enthusiasm for the shorter term outlook. While plans are abundant, orders are short. Nevertheless, medium to longer term, due to the continued support by the UK government and the plans revealed on the continent we believe that the industry will soon be growing by high double digit figures again.
Obvious to us is the struggle by the suppliers to find space in the ensuing supply chain and the need for supply chain development guidance by bodies like RenewableUK and the Crown Estate. Increased information flow and communication of developers and tier 1 suppliers’ expectations and requirements and the supplier’s technology development acumen and manufacturing capacity would help the industry forward by adding comfort to suppliers strategies and investment plans.
