    (26.09.16) On Friday 23 September, Statkraft officially opened its first power plant in Albania. The 73 MW Banja hydropower plant is the first of the two power plants being constructed as part of the 256 MW Devoll hydropower project.
     

  • WindEnergy Hamburg 2016 – Economics Minister Gabriel opens the world’s leading expo for wind energy

    (23.09.16) WindEnergy Hamburg will be opened on Tuesday, 27 September, by Sigmar Gabriel, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, and Vice Chancellor of Germany. The world?s leading expo for wind energy will be held for the second time in Hamburg, from 27 to 30 September. More than 1,200 exhibitors will present their innovations for the onshore and offshore industry during the four days of the expo. This year the specialist conference WindEurope Summit will be held in parallel to WindEnergy Hamburg for the first time (from 27 to 29 September).

Consolidation Phase?. The SEK 22 million contract, funded by the Swedish international development agency SIDA, was signed with the Zanzibar Ministry of Lands, Housing, Water and Energy (MLHWE) on 4 April 2016.

    (04.04.16) INTPOW-medlem AAK har historie bakover til 1987 da AAK Fjellsportsenter ble etablert som et senter for fjell-guiding, klatrekurs og fjellklatring Romsdalen. Ekspertisen og erfaringen fra mange år med fjellklatring førte AAK inn i olje- og energibransjen. Sammen med Statoil utviklet AAK taubaserte teknikker for tilkomst som det første selskapet i Nordsjøen. Det var også de som klarte å få aksept for arbeidsmetoden av lederne høyt opp i olje- og gassindustrien. ? På mange måter kan vi si at vi gikk fra natur til struktur, som igjen skapte grunnlaget for vår inntreden i offshore og onshore vind i 2009, forteller Leif Røv, leder for forretningsutvikling i AAK AS.

  • Scatec solar completes 104 MW solar plant in Utah

    (15.12.15) INTPOW member Scatec Solar has now formally commissioned the 104 MW (dc) photovoltaic solar plant in Parowan, Utah. The Utah Red Hills Renewable Park (URHRP) is Utah's first utility-scale solar plant and will more than double the state's current solar footprint.  The plant was commissioned on schedule and constructed in less than a year.

  • INTPOW-member Scatec Solar to build first large scale solar power plant in West Africa

    (13.07.15) An historic agreement to Build-Own-and Operate West Africa's first utility-scale solar power plant has been signed by Norwegian company Scatec Solar and its partners, the Malian Ministry of Energy and Water and Electricité du Mali (EDM), the electricity utility of Mali. To be located near the ancient city of Segou in South-East Mali, 240 kms from Bamako, the 33 MW solar project is being developed in partnership with IFC InfraVentures and the local developer Africa Power 1.

  • UK ups offshore support from 2018

    (05.12.13) The UK government has increased the amount of financial support that will be offered to offshore wind from 2018/19. The draft Contract for Difference (CfD) strike prices published by the UK government this summer offered offshore wind projects £155 ($253) per MWh from 2014/15, dropping to £135/MWh in 2018/19. The government has however now confirmed its intention to offer offshore wind projects £140/MWh in 2018/19, bending to industry concerns that the assumed cost-reductions for the medium term were too severe.

  • Norplan builds renewable incentives program in Uganda

    (29.10.13) Multiconsult subsidiary and INTPOW partner; Norplan, is the project manager of a project funded by KfW to implement a feed in tariff incentive program for renewable energy in Uganda. The program will deliver 20 new renewable energy projects to Uganda within the next 5 years. GET FiT (Global Energy Feed in Tariff) is new and yet untried, but will be implemented to spur private investments in developing regions. The incentive scheme will mainly support small scale energy production based on hydropower and biomass with less than 20 MW installed power.
     

  • Statkraft in new UK power deal

    (25.10.13) INTPOW partner and power producer Statkraft has signed 15-year power purchase agreements with developer John Laing for two UK wind farms. The deals cover all electricity and renewable benefits at the 14.4MW Burton Wold extension near Kettering, Northamptonshire, and the 15.3MW Carscreugh in Dumfries and Galloway. Statkraft already has 15-year PPAs in place with John Laing for the 8.2MW Wear Point wind farm near Milford Haven and the 10.25MW Bilsthorpe scheme in Nottinghamshire (pictured) , signed in December 2012 and August 2012 respectively.   • Scatec Solar wins 75 MW of PV in first phase of South African allocation tender

    (15.12.11) Scatec Solar, the global developer and turn-key supplier of solar PV (photo voltaic) solutions and an INTPOW partner, has been selected as a preferred bidder for a 75 MW project during the first round of the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Program. A PV plant of this size will be amongst the largest to date in Africa. Construction will commence by July 2012 and the plant will be in commercial operation by August 2013.
     

  • Statoil seeks US lease off Maine for pilot Hywind floater project

    (15.12.11) Slowly, the next phase of the Hywind adventure is approaching. Statoil’s North America unit has now submitted a commercial lease application for waters off the US state of Maine, where it hopes to deploy four “optimised” versions of its Hywind floating wind turbine. We believe that the Scottish license applications for a wider prototype wind park might be around the corner. Will we see commercial floating wind parks inaugurated before 2020?

Mitsubishi has closed its agreement with transmission system operator (TSO) TenneT on the high-voltage cable projects BorWin1 and BorWin2, in which it will take a stake of 49% for ?240m.

    (16.01.13) Saudi Arabia has announced an initiative to invest USD 100 bn in new renewable projects over the next years. Saudi Arabia plans to attract about $109 billion in solar investments to generate a third of its electricity by 2032, or about 41,000 megawatts. It currently has about 3 megawatts of solar installations, trailing Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and the U.A.E., according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

    (25.05.12) Innotech Solar delivers over 13,000 solar modules to the solar park in Nauen near Berlin, Germany. With an annual electricity production of 3.1 million KWh, it will supply energy to approx. 800 households.

  • Large-Scale Solar Project commissioned in Spain

    (08.03.12) INTPOW partner, Innotech Solar, commissioned one of Spain?s largest solar power stations last Friday. The installation ? which has an output of 4.3 megawatt peak (MWp) ?is constructed on several greenhouses, where trees are being cultivated for a local forestation project in an area measuring 62,000 m². The solar power station will produce 6 MWh of energy per year, enabling it to supply approximately 2,500 households.

    (09.01.12) Aibel øker staben til 150, sier sjef for Aibels ingeniøravdeling i Haugesund, Tove Lise Storrø. I tillegg til nylig påstartede Dolwin 2, en leveranse til havområdet utenfor Helgoland i Tyskland, regner Aibels toppsjef i Haugesund, Bjørn Tollefsen, med at Aibel har gode sjanser til å vinna kontrakten også for Dolwin 3.

The vessel is a customized version of the Deepwater Enabler design from ULSTEIN.

  • UK Offshore Wind Accelerator - Access Competition

    (07.10.10) Last week, the UK Carbon Trust launched a competition to find world-leading solutions to the problem of transferring engineers and equipment safely from boats to wind turbines as far as 300km offshore in up to 3 metre wave heights. The project aims to improve the economics of offshore wind by boosting revenues by as much as £3bn at a crucial time for the next generation of Round 3 offshore wind farms.

    (22.09.10)   Norwegian solar-energy firm REC will close its 150MW module plant in Glava, Sweden, with 300 people expected to lose their jobs. 
     

  • India to allocate developers for about 100 solar projects

    (20.09.10) India?s regulating authority on the licensing of solar plots in the country, the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, will start project allotment in September. More than 1,000 firms have expressed interest in about 100 projects of 5MW capacity each. The National Solar Mission is supported by government funding of $19bn and aims to generate 20GW of solar power into the national grid and 2GW for off-grid by 2022.
